LEFKES VILLAGE

Lefkes traditional settlement is located at the center of Paros Island at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level, surrounded with olive, pine trees, vineyards and old wind mills. The view of Naxos Island is breathtaking. Lefkes which was named Yria until 1912, was the first capital of Paros Island during Middle Age and is full of little traditional whitewashed houses, mixed with Venetian architecture; small churches dating from the 15th century, old windmills and beautiful dove cotes. From Lefkes you can reach in 15 minutes top beach destinations like Molos or Kalogeros and still be able to relax when you come back. It remains untouched by mass tourism which helps in keeping its authenticity and local characteristics.

Lefkes is connected by public bus to popular location of Paros. The bus station is about 10 minutes’ walk from the houses. There is also a taxi ride to the village square or the owner or rented car or bike. The historic center of the traditional settlement can only be reached by foot. Cars can be parked at the surrounding parking areas, at the entrance or the peripheral road of the settlement.
Lefkes is one of the most important cultural centers on the island. You can visit traditional taverns for local recipes, lovely places for coffee and freshly made breakfast. There are few local bars where you can have a drink. Additionally you can enjoy shops with their artistic creations and the museum of Folk Culture. Bakery and mini market are close by. It is also a starting point for many hiking trails.
