OUR HISTORY

paros houses

From the 17th century, many Cretans and Cretan Venetians first came to the Cyclades as refugees, leaving the fury of the Turks during the Turkish-Venetian War (1645-1669). In 1823 a new wave of Cretans arrives in the Cyclades. Many of them who finally stayed in Paros changed their last name to either Kritikos (Cretan) or Chaniotis (Chania Crete) . Both surnames pre-existed in Paros as characteristic of origin. Our family’s surname is Kritikos originating from that period.

19th Century

In the old days the ground house was used as family cellar. Olives, olive oil and wine from owned fields were stored in Cretan style ceramic urns. Salted hard cheese and wheat were also stored. It was used as daily dining room. The house of the first floor contained bedrooms and also a dining room for exceptional occasions.

20th Century

The 2 stone houses are family owned for many generations, 200+ years old and the last owner was Gasparina (Rina), hence the name selected. They were completely renovated in 2019 with respect to tradition but also with care to comfort and luxury.
